Conclusion
115th Canton Fair didn’t witness grand scenes as before and failed to bring the expected results for Chinese enterprises and buyers. During the first five days of the first session, there were many visitors visiting halls 12.1 and 13.1 for motorcycles, hall 16.2 for electric bikes and bicycles on the first three days, yet in the other two days, there were only a few visitors. International sellers mainly come from South America and Europe, but some influential buyers didn’t attend Canton Fair.
Although there are favorable factors for Chinese motorcycle export, such as slow recovery of U.S. and European markets and product dollar price decrease due to RMB devaluation, the majority of overseas buyers were still looking on. This situation made a significant contrast with last Canton Fair, in which many exhibitors received orders or cooperative intention. At the Canton Fair site, many exhibitors said that it was hard to get orders and overseas buyers were more cautious in order negotiation. Therefore, they hoped the foreign trade policy can be more flexible so that enterprises can better face the increasingly fierce international competition. In the case of foreign trade decline in the first quarter, China's foreign trade policy is expected to become more relaxed. In addition, if the domestic motorcycle companies want to break the unfavorable situation, understanding domestic and foreign markets and find their own pace in development are vital no matter they decide to seek international cooperation or create their own brands.
